The MDH has hard shelters for the operating rooms, x-ray, pharmacy, lab/blood bank and the ICU. The other services will be set up in soft shelters (tent) provided by the North Carolina State Medical Response System. The hospital unit equipment and supplies can be set up in open areas such as well drained hard surfaced areas. To accommodate the entire hospital unit layout plan, the open area needs to be approximately the size of three and a half football fields (150,000 sq. ft.)
