Originally thought to have included a plane crashing into the building. (some offered this was because it was 16 months after 9-11, however more realistically, it was because Seymour Johnson AFB is in the region, the local Global Transpark [with a large airport] was adjacent to this building where F-15s were practicing "touch and go's" at approximately the time of the explosion). The explosion was tremendous and due in part to the fact that so many of the employees were in the lunch area (bottom left area of the building in the first picture below) and due to both the effective and efficient response by EMS and local Public Safety Agencies, were so many lives spared.
